P. James Rainey and Elisa Dillard Rainey founded Rainey & Rainey together and still take their own clients. That is the simplest way to describe how this office works: the person whose name is on the sign is the person who reads your file.

The work is estate planning and elder law, which in practice means two different time horizons at once. One is the paperwork you sign while you are healthy — a will, a durable power of attorney, a medical power of attorney, a trust if your situation calls for one. The other is what happens when a plan meets a hospital, a nursing home, a Medicaid application or a probate court. Firms that only do the first half hand you a binder. We do both halves, which is why our clients tend to come back a decade later rather than start over somewhere else.

Between the Waco and Georgetown offices, five attorneys practice here. Addison Eubank Scott and Daniel Hare are members of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and each of our attorneys is certified by the State Bar of Texas to handle guardianship cases — which matters when a McLennan County probate court has to decide whether someone can still manage their own affairs.
